The Newfoundland Dog Database

Welcome to Version 2 of the Newfoundland Dog Database. This version contains data on over 102,000 individual animals. The search engine has been enhanced to the point where any search, including the 5-generation pedigree, should complete in 10 seconds or less. We are working hard to improve the look and functionality of the database. Click here if you wish to be automatically notified of new features and developments here at the Newfie DB as they come online.

Use the search form below to view the records for one or more dogs. You can search for a particular dog by name, all the dogs from a kennel, all the dogs with a particular sire, and all the dogs with a particular dam. If you're unsure of the exact name, use a name-fragment by changing the is operator to contains, starts with, or ends with. Enter the name or name-fragment in the this term box and hit the start search button.

Each results page contains a new search form so you don't have to return to this page to start a new search. To see a dog's 5-generation pedigree you must first get the individual record for that dog via this search form, then follow the instructions on the results page.

Data update and entry have been added to the system on a provisional basis. If you want to test it out, try entering one or two animals, then get back to me (webmaster@rodley.com) with your impressions of what works, and doesn't. Please DO NOT enter a large amount of data until we've worked the kinks out. To use it today, you will have to enter your personal data in the login screen. Users who entered their data in the previous version WILL be added automatically but not until sometime over the next week. Also, don't enter animals that you previously entered into the last version of the DB. These dogs WILL eventually show up by themselves. If you have a Web page dedicated to your newf, be sure to enter the URL in the MoreInfo field. This will allow users to hop right over to it. Data that you enter in this page will be automatically, simultaneously relayed to Richard Scothern for inclusion in the master database. If you run into a problem where the system reports an error or behaves incorrectly, stop immediately and email me here (webmaster@rodley.com).

To update an existing animal, find it using the search form, then hit the UPDATE button. To enter a new dog from scratch, click here.
